Fight the Fat at Celluscience Party with Model Mia Tyler

By: Anne M. Raso

We were lucky enough to get invited to Rosica PR's party at Piano Due, to announce Mia Tyler's endorsement deal with Santica Research Labs' diet products. You might have seen their commercials for FULL FAST and CELLUSCIENCE with real-life people testimonials, and a little tattooed birdie told us that Mia might be starring in some future ads (bringing some no-holds-barred rocker chick attitude to their image).

New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2010: Who.What.Wear Part 3

By: Finance Foodie

(Continued from Part 1 and Part 2)

My final day at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week was the most chill – no shows or events until the evening meant I had the afternoon and morning free to hangout with friends in the City (whom I’m highly thankful for – as they immediately took me to Chinatown for a big bowl of noodles upon hearing about my deprivation of solid foods for the past two days). Anyways, onto the final installment!

New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2010: Who.What.Wear Part 2

By: Finance Foodie

(...Continued from Part 1)

I approached Day 2 of my Foray into Fashion Week with a bit of apprehension, as it was my busiest day out of the three days I was in town. With shows booked back to back, including a few off-site shows sandwiched in between, I was afraid I'd collapse from exhaustion before the day was done!. However, with carefully planning (one of the few things I learned from my banking days!) and a bit of luck, I managed to see all my shows and even mustered enough energy go out on a Valentine's Day date. Afterall, I can always sleep when I am dead.
Anyways, on to the show recaps....

New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2010: Who.What.Wear Part 1

By: Finance Foodie

After spending an exciting but exhausting weekend in New York for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week – man, am I glad to be back in Boston! I’m still recovering from the visually stimulating three point five days filled with everything from jeweled embroidered tights to shaggy fur dresses! Though Boston might be better known for its “Intellectual Prowess” versus its “Fashion Prowess”, I discovered a few looks from the runways that would fit nicely into any occasion for life in Boston. [Note: these looks wont be in stores till Fall 2010, but its never too early to start planning!]

Baby L.A.M.B: Chatting with Gwen Stefani at New York Fashion Week

By: Anne M. Raso

We were lucky enough to corner Gwen Stefani at the side of the runway during the L.A.M.B. Winter 2010 show and we think it was super-swell of her to let photogs and journos do their thing for ten minutes after the festivities ended. Most designers just run away after taking their bow at the end of the show! Gwen looked like her usual Marilyn Monroe-esque self except that she was sporting a military style jacket from the new collection. Son Zuma was in the back, being babysat by a junior publicist who did all she could to keep the mini-brother-creeper-boot wearing blond cutie away from photogs - including turning his back to the paps and putting her hands over his eyes (which he found rather amusing actually-he thought the PR flack was playing some sort of hide and seek game)!

Fit for a King in The Oak Room at The Plaza Hotel New York

By: Wela Quan

I’ll admit it. I LOVE nice hotels. I love the romantic atmosphere, I love the opulence and above all I love the over-done Hollywood fairytales evoked by the hotel setting. With this in mind, you can imagine how excited I was to find out that the Oak Room was actually a restaurant in one of these decadent modern day palaces. Located inside the Plaza Hotel at the southeast corner of Central Park, I was brimming with excitement when Ethan and I arrived not only because was I excited about the meal but also because I discovered that the Plaza is a Fairmont hotel. Fairmont Hotels is a Canadian luxury hotel chain which owns arguably the most fairytale style hotels in the world including the Banff Hot Springs Hotel and the famous Château Frontenac in Québec City. My Canadian pride over-took me.

Ming Wang: For Fashionistas who EAT!

By: Anne M. Raso

It seems that most foodies seem to stay a stylish size 4 or 6—why is that the case? I always assumed it was good genetics or they just taste and then spit! It is hard to be a fashionista and foodie at the same time (that is not exactly news), so where do you get stylish clothes if you are a size 18, middle-aged and don’t want to spend $500 and up one piece? You look for stuff that stretches!

The 2010 North End CityFeast at Tresca Boston

By: Finance Foodie

The North End CityFeast held this past Sunday can be summed up in two words: Charitable Gluttony. Hosted by six participating restaurants in the North End of Boston, this event was held to benefit the Joslin Diabetes Center's High Hopes Fund. Even though my stomach already received quite a workout at Beer and Bourbon Festival the day before, I am always down for supporting a good cause (and trying a new restaurant), so I threw my most acceptable-for-public pair of “fat” pants and ventured out into the night...

I arrived at Tresca, the restaurant I was to dine at, promptly at 6pm. I had sampled some wonderful morsels from Tresca before (at the Beyond Shelter Gala last year), so I was excited to enjoy a full meal at this cozy Italian eatery. Plus, I was seated by fellow blogger Richard of the Passionate Foodie – so I was doubly excited that I would be having dinner with someone equally passionate about good food as myself.
