Scrumptious Sunday Brunch at Davio's New York

By: Finance Foodie

As the weather has finally turned warm, there is no better way to celebrate than a peaceful and elegant Sunday brunch. This past weekend, the Mister and I headed to Davio's to check out their brand new brunch menu. I have always been a fan of their high quality steaks for dinner so I was excited to check out what they had in store for lunch!
Fried Egg Yolks

Craving something savory, we started off with a plate of Fried Egg Yolks paid with sautéed mushrooms and drizzled with a sweet and tangy Balsamic ($14). The Fried Egg Yolks were not only fantastically innovative but also very rich and delicious as well - the tender and soft inside yolk made a great contrast to the crispy breadcrumb shell.
Grilled Spanish Octopus
Next came a platter of Grilled Spanish Octopus, topped with Pancetta and Corona Beans with a splash of Citron Vinaigrette ($18). There are few things I love more than grilled octopus (the only thing being lobster - which I got for my main LOL!) and Davio's does the octopus just right. Tender with just the right amount of chew, these lovely multi-legged sea creatures made a delightful second course.
Lobster Pappardelle Carbonara
For the main event, the Mister and I share the entree sized portion of the Pappardelle Carbonara with Maine lobster, pancetta, truffle and finished with a poached egg ($31). This was a truly a perfect dish -- the homemade fresh pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the Carbonara sauce was rich and velvety like sinking into a soft sofa cushion (for my mouth).  The generous portion of lobster also gave the entree a nice dose of protein that didn't overwhelm the sweet pancetta.
French Toast
For the "dessert", we were craving something sweet but more traditionally breakfast-like. The simple but done well French Toast with Peanut Butter and Jam ($15) hit the spot. Eggy, buttery and sugary - this dish was was real winner to end an already awesome meal.

After the french toast, we were so full that we could not possibly eat another bite. Given the extensiveness of the brunch menu (including a very tempting "Build Your Own Bloody Mary Bar"), we will have to be back again to check out the rest of the goodies!
