“Empire state of mind…”

Tonight, I was taken back to my high school prom. And at the Loews movie theatre of all places. This evening, a few dozen Boston area Carries, Mirandas, Charlottes, and Samanthas (with a few Stanford Blatchs in tow) all gathered for a screening party of the much anticipated and highly buzzed about Sex and the City 2. The evening started off with pre-movie cocktails at nearby restaurant Teatro, where attendees sipped on Moet bubbly (the sponsor for the event) and nibbled on hors d'oeuvres while teetering on their highest Manolo Bs.


When the clock struck 7:30pm, the movie promptly rolled to the delight of the giddy (and possibly tipsy) audience. Now I won’t give too much away (since the movie doesn’t officially get released until tomorrow) but I will say that I did like this movie much better than the first one – shocking since most sequels are mere shadows of their predecessors. The opulence and fashion once again do not disappoint (cause that’s one of the main reason why I watched this movie) –  the dazzling red number designed by The Blonds (retail price: $6,000) that Samantha wore in the karaoke scene below took my breath away long enough to make me forget about this current economic crisis were are in!

Roger Ebert I am not, but if you are looking for a flick that’s fun, full of glamour and sparkle, and sprinkled with a dash of wit for a girl's night out – Sex and the City 2 is a good bet!
