Yummy Tummy: Scenes from Brooklyn's 1st Annual GoogaMooga Festival

By: Finance Foodie

On May 19th & 20th, 2012, Brooklyn’s historic Prospect Park transformed into an amusement park of food and drink, The Great GoogaMooga. Approximately 75 food vendors, 35 brewers, 30 winemakers and 20 live music performances were on hand to help New Yorkers relish some of life’s greatest pleasures—gathering with friends and neighbors to eat, drink, talk, laugh, dance, linger and just . . . be together.  Below are some highlights / snapshots from my lazy Sunday afternoon in the park.
Finance Foodie + Friends Cooling Down with Fruit Bars from People's Pops
Foie Gras Donut from To Dine or Die (FYI that's the name of the restaurant - somehow I was not surprised that it was Brooklyn-based). All I can say is: Salty, Goopy and definitely an Acquired Taste. I akin this to bridge jumping - glad I tried it once, but never doing it again.
Cool cake - one of the few inedible items present.
Burger with Roquefort Cheese from The Spotted Pig. I had been wanting to try The Spotted Pig forever now, but was always deterred by the incessant long lines. The burger was pretty flavorful (though slightly salty) - but I must say I'm intrigued and might just have to suffer though those never ending lines to taste more of the Spotted Pig.
I don't venture out of the Island often so I was secretly glad GoogaMooga gave me the excuse to explore new territory. Overall, a fun filled day with good company, beautiful weather and interesting food!
