Noodles and More at Pasta Eater New York City

By: Finance Foodie

This past weekend, the Mister and I found ourselves hungry, cold and wet from the rain in the Union Square are during lunch hour. We were going to head back home but then found ourselves passing by Pasta Eater, a newly opened Italian bistro that specialize in a variety of authentic Italian pasta dishes made with their freshly made (in-house) pasta. As the restaurant looked so cozy and inviting versus the dreary weather outside, we decided to sample the goods and head on in.

Upon entrance, Pasta Eater feels like a warm family establishment that reminded me of the restos I dined at during my summer vacation in Italy. After noshing on some complimentary bread and olive oil, the Mister and I decided to split the burrata ($16), a lovely and generously portioned dollop of soft cheese on top arugula pesto and served with diced tomatoes. The burrata was excellent in taste - nicely firm on the outside but soft and creamy once you cut inside.

For our pastas, I decided to go with the Pappardelle with wild boar ragu and black truffle ($19), while the Mister chose the Cacio e Pepe ($20) served from a Pecorino cheese wheel. Let's start with the pastas -  beyond superb, cooked perfectly al dente and obviously made with quality ingredients (no box pasta taste here)!  The Pappardelle dish was filled with hearty chunks of well seasoned meat and the truffle gave the dish a nice smokey aroma. The Cacio e Pepe was simple but very well executed - plus we both enjoyed the awesome table side presentation of the pasta. Two wonderful and filling dishes for our stomach and hearts.

Sadly we didn't save any room for dessert, so we will for sure be back again (the Green Tea Creme Brulee is already on my list). Pasta Eater is a delightful addition to the Union Square area and I look forward to trying more from their vast selection of top flight pastas in the future.
