Graceful Services Spa: A Shining Star Of Spa Week

By: Anne M. Raso

Spa Week is coming up October 20-26 and it gives spa lovers all over the country too score their favorite services for a flat 50 dollars. I got my all-time favorite spa treatment, an hour-long hot stone massage at Graceful Services in Manhattan last week. I had never been there before but what a treat it was. If you love the relaxation of this service as much as I do, I strongly suggest you book it at spaweek.com ASAP.

Graceful Services has a homey feeling because it consists of two second floor walkup apartments. There are about a dozen private services rooms and decor is simple. It doesn't have flash but they offer many specials on Group on including couples massage and facials.
I was assigned massage therapist Kim at Graceful Services visit. ‎She is possibly the most attentive masseuse I have ever experienced. Upon entering the simple white-curtained massage room, she asked me if I had any sore spots that day and what sort of pressure I preferred (which is strong). I told her about my right shoulder blade pain from carrying a heavy bag around the streets of Manhattan all day and the general lower back pain I have from time to time. She spent about fifteen minutes in each area kneading out my "knots" and other tension that was there. The massage included wonderful arm, hand and foot rubs--but the best part was the use of the stones, which are put into a tub with hot water to rise to a temperature above 100 degrees. I do not have to tell you that this treatment not only eases sore muscles but lowers one stress level as well.
Kim placed a wet towel over the white sheet that already covered me, and on my lower back went about six stones in a neat pile. They stayed there at least ten minutes and really eased the pain and tension. Kim also glided the stones all over my back and shoulders‎ with Biotone Clear Results Massage Oil, a natural formula featuring Coconut Oil, Jojoba and Aloe Vera, which did not feel oily at all. At the end of my session, Kim wiped me down with a hot terrycloth towel, which felt wonderful. I would strongly suggest that you run, not walk to Graceful Services, to get their hot stone massage. Better yet, book it at spaweek.com and get it for only 50 dollars (the regular price is 80 dollars). I have never been disappointed with any Spa Week Service I have gotten over the years, and many of them have been at less than half of their normal price.
