Sweet Surprises at Francois Payard's FP Patisserie Preview Party

By: Finance Foodie

Last Monday night, renowned pastry chef Francois Payard held an opening party for his return to the Upper East Side with his brand new concept, FP Patisserie. Located on 3rd and 74th, this shop offers not only a variety of Payard's well known decadent desserts, but also French bistro style savory options - much like his old haunt, Payard Patisserie & Bistro. I had a chance to check this place out during my visit to NYC - so here's sneak peak of what to expect!
Champagne - a staple for any party!
Payard's signature macroons in a multitude of colors and flavors. The most interesting? I would say it's the savory options - the squid ink, cream cheese and olive tapenade macaroon is for sure an adventure for the taste buds!
Exquisite gourmet chocolates, including my favorite - a delicious peanut butter and raspberry jam filled morsel.
Cakes galore - I didn't sample any at the party but have indulged in these delicacies at Payard's old resto - one bite and I swear I died and gone to heaven.
Since Payard's is a bona fide culinary superstar, he obviously has a legion of famous friends and fans. Fashion designer Tory Burch and fellow famous pastry chef Jacques Torres were among the well wishers who attended the party.

FP Patisserie officially opens on October 29, 2012 - looks like the UES is going get a whole lot sweeter with this new offering - can't wait!
