Party All Fall: Led Zeppelin Celebration Day to the World Yacht's Beauty Brunch

By: Anne M. Raso

Fall party season must be in ramp mode, for I have been to quite a diversity of parties lately -- ranging from the World Yacht's Beauty Brunch for the Cause Cruise to the Kohl's Spring Preview Bash. In this two part series, I'll give you all the scoop on what's been going on around town!

Goodies!

The Beauty Brunch for the Cause is the perfect "day with the girls" event where top beauty, hair and nail brands set up "service" tables and the ticket holders can get a full range of beauty services for only $10 plus tips. This year, the Minx Nails were the most popular and as a result, you saw a lot of "cruisers" with Minx famous pink ribbon on their nails to commemorate the organization which all the proceeds were going--the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. There was a silent auction which included fabulous products and services including a haircut and style at Eva Srivo's West Village salon, a basket of La Prairie skin products worth $1,350, a set of Molton Brown body care products and more.

There were plenty of great brunch food and pink champagne on the cruise, not to mention pink cocktails. Attendees left with fabulous bags of beauty products, but we here at financefoodie.com have to give a special tip of the sailor's cap to World Yacht themselves, who donated $2,000 to the cause.

Celebration Day!
The Led Zeppelin Celebration Day concert film press conference at Museum of Modern Art last week was one of those great rock and roll events of a lifetime. The film--which is presented by Fathom Entertainment and was shown one night only in theaters around the country (on October 17th) but will be available next month on DVD. Because the concert in the film was one of the group's rare reunions in London at the 02 arena back in December 2007 and the band was in such fine form, playing such classics as "Kashmir," "Whole Lotta Love" and "Stairway To Heaven," journalists at the press conference naturally asked if there were further reunion plans. The band looked a little shocked--but they looked even more surprised when a second journalist asked the same question (worded totally differently)...and then a third journo had the nerve to ask a third time. The guy who asked the third time got called a "schmuck" by head howler Robert Plant.
Plant also extended a friendly shout out to my guest who happened to be a licensed massage therapist who had worked for the boys in the past (and is a good friend as well), and seemed to recognize some of the veteran rock journalists that he knew from the heavy hitter record industry trade mags over the years.
The Band
Our hats off to moderator Bill Flanagan who did a great job of keeping the ball rolling--and "getting the Led out" as the old saying goes. He certainly helped the band feel more comfortable. Pictured here is Robert Plant accepting various books and classic pics of his Golden God days taken by some of the veteran photogs in the crowd.
