I googled today "Per Se NYC Counter" since I had thought I heard they were opening up another Per Se that was more casual, a la carte, and not a disaster in terms of getting reservations. The first link was Blogsoop and your blog entry was the first entry within Blogsoop. Congrats, I guess?

Anyway, while your Per Se entry didn't help with the "salon," what I was ultimately looking for, I enjoyed the other Per Se commentary. Based on the pics though, it is hard to imagine those bites filling me up, ha.

I read most of your other NYC ones, since I used to live there (and just moved a couple months ago) - made me miss a lot of things. The pics of the dishes and descriptions are very good, more than what I jot down in my food journal (not posted anywhere).

Going back to Per Se, there's an article that I read that made me think of it:
http://newyork.grubstreet.com/2009/07/toughest_reservations.html
Waverly (where you wrote about) and Momofuku Ko are also mentioned.

Finally, I am from Austin and went to UT, so I'm curious about where you hit up when in college. The East Coast lacks, in my mind, 4 categories:
- great texmex (some good/decent places)
- great bbq (also some good ones though)
- since I'm from Austin, home cooking
- nostalgic (aka not necessarily great food but great memories associated) late-night places after going out in downtown, be they Magnolia, Kerbey Ln, Starseeds, Roppolo's/devil's pizza, etc.

Keep up the good work, and I'll come back occasionally to read some more.

Thanks,
James

aww babe!! i totally miss supper club!

aww babe!!

i totally miss supper club!

can't wait to read more!such great structure in yo...

can't wait to read more!
such great structure in your food-life story (beg. mid, end). hah ;)

Welcome to Boston!
